Jonathan Goldhill studied art at the Hampstead School of Art in London and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) in Philadelphia, and civil and mechanical engineering at King College, University of London.

Jonathan has pursued parallel careers in fine art and technology. As an artist, originally based in London and now working out of his studio in Philadelphia, he paints primarily in oils. Meanwhile, as a management consultant, he has helped companies and governments around the world resolve a wide range of challenges.

Over the past few years, he has combined the creative and analytical aspects of both of his career paths to explore the emerging area of Data Art.

Data Art uses data as a source of inspiration and a springboard for creativity. Jonathan typically starts with a powerful theme that can be characterized by data sets that are either in the public domain or that he develops from secondary sources. He then decides on a way to use the data to illustrate the underlying message, often incorporating irony and visual puns. Jonathan likes the idea of using the most traditional of painting mediums, oil on canvas, to bring to life the output of computers and the internet.
